Local area and activities

Pau is a small, peaceful village on the southern slopes of the Serra de Rodes Mountains. It is within the Parque Natural Cap de Creus and the Aiguamolls (wetlands and bird sanctuary). This area has wonderful scenery with mountains, a rocky coastline with beaches perfect for swimming and picturesque villages among vineyards and olive groves.

In the village, there is a shop, three restaurants, a public swimming pool and tennis courts. There's good public transport - buses to the main towns, trains to Figueres, Girona and Barcelona to the south, and France to the north. Girona (40 minutes by car) or Perpignan in France (50 minutes by car) are the nearest international airports.

The nearest beach is in Rosas, a seaside town 10 minutes by car, with many more nearby at St Marti, Santa Magarida, Llança, Calla Joncols and picturesque Cadaques.

Besides sun and sea, Alt Emporda has many other activities to offer. The area is famous for sky-diving, cycling, walking, off-roading, riding, golf, bird-watching, wine-tasting and of course, the Dali Museum. (See links below and events diary on homepage news items)
